She could even do a mix of both patterns, longways and sideways (if she wants) because she has complete power over the outcome. With every push and pull, every clean line, every crackle of crumbs sucked up, she feels powerful. She’s starting to believe that, today, this might be the only place where she has control.

She keeps her head down, then looks up once the mess is gone.
